Bald Heads and Malaria

“There is more money put into baldness drugs than into malaria,” Gates quipped, triggering laughter. “Now, baldness is a terrible thing and rich men are afflicted. That is why that priority has been set.”

I’m an expert in this field, being bald and having had malaria a number of times. I want to go on record as saying that malaria is far more serious and we should be putting our money into dealing with it, not into assuaging the vanity of follically challenged males.

I totally agree. I know people will say maybe there isn’t money to spare during this economic crisis. But food shortages and rising cost of food is having far more of an impact on the populations of countries where malaria is such a problem than on the West. It’s a question of priorities.
