Today the translation checking of John 13-21 was supposed to begin. Unfortunately, Pastor Bata got word that his son, a police officer in Gorongosa, had passed away yesterday. Our colleagues Mikael and Jeni had been here teaching translation and literacy so Pastor Bata was able to return with them to Tete this morning.
Bernardino didn’t come this week because he is in night school and they are taking exams this week. The other translator, Ilidio had a program with his church yesterday and so he can only get here today. We’re a little concerned because Ilidio’s face has swollen and the doctors aren’t sure why.
That leaves Semo and myself to get things started. Semo is currently fixing a flat tire on his motorcycle and I’m running off to the bank to get cash since I sent all my money off with Bata to help with the funeral. We need more money because the house where the translators is staying is missing all its pots and pans.
I’m back from the bank. I succeeded in taking out cash but because I took out so much at a time I had to grab it out of the ATM since it got stuck. I always feel like a bank robber when I do that. (read more)
