Over the next week or so, I’m going to be drawing together some of my thoughts and blog posts on the subject of the Bible and mission. This will serve to help me get some of my thoughts in order and to bring some cohesion to things I’ve written over the last couple of years.
For the moment, I’d just like to make the simple statement that the Bible and Mission are two sides of the same coin. The Triune God reveals himself to humanity in order to draw men and women into relationship with himself and with each other. The Scriptures and the mission of the church are the two primary means of God’s self revelation. The mission of the church is shaped and informed by the Scriptures and the truth of the Bible message is illustrated by the life and witness of the Church. You can’t have mission without the Bible and if we are not involved in mission we are missing the point of the Bible.
Mission and the Bible have their origin in the self revelation of the Triune God.
