Over the last week, we have recorded twice as many visitors to Kouya Chronicle as we would normally expect (about 250 per day). The reason for this is a short article I wrote about the African Christian leader Tokunboh Adeyemo who died last week. Today, eight of the top ten search terms which led to Kouya Chronicle are variations on Dr. Adeyemo’s name.
The Christian Church is growing worldwide and people like Dr. Adeyemo are hugely important; they are global figures. Christians across the world, and in Africa in particular, wanted to read tributes to this man of God. the reason they ended up at Kouya Chronicle is that hardly any of the mainstream Christian media or ‘big blogs’ even mentioned his passing.
I’m very happy that we picked up some extra traffic, and I hope that some of the first time visitors will like what we are doing and will come back. However, I am deeply saddened that the Western Christian media are so inward looking that they never even noticed the passing of a man who had such an enormous influence on so many people. We are so tied up in our own affairs that we miss the events of real significance!
