Garden Warming

Today is the second of December – nothing unusual about that, we generally get a second of December around this time every year. What is unusual is that I mowed the lawn today. It used to be that you could pack the lawn mower away from Mid October until the Spring time. But for the last couple of years, I’ve had to mow the lawn in November – and now December. Not only that, but I didn’t need to wear a jacket or even a sweater to be outside. I was warm enough in just jeans and a rugby shirt. The blue tits haven’t even started feeding from our bird feeders yet, there must be plenty of food still to be found on the trees and bushes.
People can argue about the cause and the projected longevity of the change in climate we are living through, but they surely can no longer argue the fact that something is happening.
