Christian versus Christ Follower

by Eddie on October 9, 2007

A few weeks back, I wrote that Christians in the UK might like to think more about presenting themselves as followers of Christ rather than as religious Christians. This theme is picked up in a series of wonderful videos by Bramsvan which are available on YouTube. The videos are a send up of computer adverts from the US, but the are hilarious and thought provoking even if you don’t know the originals. I like this one best.

Great! Today first Mark Dever (via Adrian Warnock) gives me a good reason to deny Christianity, and then you give me some even better ones!

Are they re-branding themselves in view of the fast spreading Islam?

Interesting.

Islam is spreading in the West, but Philip Jenkins book The New Christendom, demonstrates very clearly that Christianity is growing far faster than Islam around the world. Of course, for a variety of reasons, Christians don’t get the same amount of press – but it doesn’t alter the facts.

I have to say that I agree with the “correct” guy (and I can’t stand most “Christian” music) – but the ad itself is a bit like what the “incorrect” guy likes – a Christian copy of the real thing.

That’s not to say there’s no place for parody.
