A Short Book Review

I’ve just finished reading Bringing Theology to Life. It doesn’t.

I’ve always wanted to write something in the style of Dorothy Parker’s Constant Reader reviews, and it seems as though I’ve found my opportunity.

Actually, to be fair to the book there is some useful discussion and it introduced me to some authors that I hadn’t come across previously. However, the writing style is not at all engaging and at no point did it have me wanting to leap from my seat in worship or wonder. The title, Bringing Theology to Life leads you to expect a much different book to the one you get. Theology students might want to buy it (or borrow it from the library) for a specific essay, but I think most people can safely leave it alone and read some of the more classic introductions to Christian theology.
