10-20-30

Peter has tagged me with a meme asking what I was doing 10, 20 and 30 years ago. Well, I don’t have a diary to hand, but I can more or less work it out.

October 1997. As a family we were living in Abidjan where we had just returned from a year’s furlough in the UK. Both Sue and I were working on the Kouya New Testament translation, though I was anticipating taking over as branch director in the relatively near future. In fact, I took over as director a few months earlier than expected.

October 1987. Sue, David and I were living in Southampton for a brief few months. Earlier that summer we had returned from seven months language study in France to teach language acquisition the British SIL school (now the European Training Program). In early January 1988 we would leave to start the African section of our adventure.

October 1977. A rather shy and long haired undergraduate; I started my degree in Applied Biology at Bath University. This was the first time that I was to spend any significant time away from the North of England. A year later, Sue and I lived fairly close to each other – but we did not actually meet until 1980.

In turn, I tag Phil, Paul and Rob.
