Blogs I Read: Geography Blogs

This is a somewhat loose category to lump together a series of blogs which each focus on specific areas of the world. Four of them are written by colleagues of mine working in Africa and one by a former colleague who now resides in the United States.

Rob & Lois Baker and Nora McNamara (all in Benin) and Jessica Lebold (Congo) all write colourfully about their lives in Africa where they are involved in a variety of language related activities.  The odd good photo and video gets thrown in for good measure.

David Ker is another colleague in Africa, but his blog spreads into a much wider field covering Biblical studies and all sorts of other things.

Paul Merril’s blog My Part of Colorado is perhaps the surprise entrant here. Paul used to live in Nairobi where his blog gave fascinating insights into life in the Kenyan capital. I didn’t expect him to carry on blogging when he returned home to the US, nor did I expect his blog to continue being as interesting as it is. Paul is one of the most active bloggers I read posting a photograph and a short discussion almost every day.

Hi Eddie! Just saw this post -I’m in DSL land for the moment and catching up on my blogreading. Thanks for the plug and the links to other great stuff, especially David’s bit on dependency. It’s helping me think through my own giving in the village where I live.
