Holme Lea is our house which sits just outside of the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the North of England.
Though we say it ourselves, it is a lovely place to live and we would like to share it with friends in Christian ministry by providing a space where you can both enjoy some rest and have time to reflect on your life and work. If you would like somewhere you could spend 3-7 days enjoying a break and spending some time writing, studying or meditating, this might just be the place for you.
Holme Lea is in Airedale, within easy reach of the Bronte village of Howarth, Skipton and some amazing countryside. There are great walks available from our front door. We are a mile from the nearest railway station (thirty minutes to Leeds or Bradford) and around a five hour drive from London.
What We Provide
We have a large room with twin beds and a desk. There would be room for a cot, or a mattress for small children, but it isn’t ideal for school aged kids. We also have a second lounge, so that you can sit and relax without worrying about what we are doing. In warm weather (bear in mind this is Yorkshire) there is a large garden with a paved seating area.
You are more than welcome to borrow the dog, if you like walking! Zaro is a Labradoodle and is as near to hypoallergenic as a dog can get, but he is very friendly and likes a lot of attention.
You are welcome to join us for meals, help yourself to what is in the kitchen, provide your own food or eat out. Just make sure that we know in advance if we need to cook something extra.
We have a fairly extensive library of mission and theological books which you can use while you are here.
What You Provide
The idea is that for some of your stay, you will spend time thinking, writing, praying, meditating or whatever. Towards the end of your time with us, we’d like to have dinner together and give you time to share about what you have been learning. That’s the only thing you have to contribute – enjoy dinner and share with us.
We aren’t running a business and we won’t be charging food and board. God has provided us with a lovely place to live and we want to share it with others.
Things To Note
As you will understand, we want to make sure that family and close friends are able to visit us and so it is possible that we may have to cancel your visit at relatively short notice, though we will always try to avoid this.
When we are on holiday, we’d like to make the whole house available for others, so there will be room for children, or for two couples to share.
At the moment, we’d like to restrict this to people that we know or who are close contacts. We may make the offer more widely available in the future.
If you would like to come and stay at Holme Lea, please use the contact form at the bottom of this page.
