An Introduction to Wycliffe Bible Translators

This is a talk I gave recently introducing the work of Wycliffe Bible Translators. Something I’d like to point out is that the talk starts talking about God and his work in the world, rather than talking about the organisation. When we talk about Christian mission we must always start with God and his redeeming work, rather than starting with our activities or even talking about the people who need to hear about Christ.

I agree. Going around mission events and hearing people give a summary of their mission organisation it’s amazing how little God is mentioned. I was at a church recently and about 10 of us gave 45 second summaries of our organisations – I think I was the only one who even mentioned God at all. Still no one talked to me afterwards about being involved in Bible translation – maybe because we’re more interested in finding out what we can do than finding out what God is doing / wanting to do and joining with him.
