In around twenty weeks time, I hope to line up with thousands of others to run in the 2013 London marathon. In the process, I’ve run three half-marathons, but a full marathon is another thing entirely. Over the next few months I’ll be pounding the streets of High Wycombe, trying to build up my stamina and reduce my weight. I’ll finish each training run off with a nice hot shower!
Ah, nice hot showers! Of course, there are millions of people around the world who don’t have access to clean water, much less heated running water. These same people often don’t have access to decent sanitation, either, and so they are prey to all sorts of water-borne diseases. So, while running the marathon, I’m also hoping to raise money for the Turn on the Tap campaign run by Samaritan’s Purse. I’d be really grateful if you were able to sponsor me – and I’ll probably keep nagging you, so why not do so now?
